WEDNESDAY APRIL 10  7:30 PM AN DIE MUSIK  409 North Charles St. Baltimore, MD  $15/$10

Shakespeare’s Richard III, made in 1912, is the earliest surviving American feature film. Produced as a vehicle for the legendary 19th century stage actor, Frederick Warde, it was the most ambitious Shakespearean adaptation to date. Richard III offers a fresh glimpse of a time when Shakespeare wasn’t strictly the domain of scholars but a source of popular entertainment; with characters who mirrored our own complex humanity, along with the requisite doses of sex and violence. With an improvised score based on English renaissance music, devised by Tina Chancey and Steve Bloom.
